Damaged Shreveport Shutter

How many times have you seen this? You may even have a shutter that looks like this at your home right now. Broken, rotted shutters are very common! The most common reason is water damage, either they are being rained on or even more common....the sprinkler is spraying on them. Wood shutters are typically made with Spanish Cedar or Cypress wood that hold up best outside but no wood is completely rot resistant. The dilema is that usually you cannot go to the big box store and find an exact match. You could replace with a composite, but you will need to order custom sizes and replace all in a section so that they all match exactly. This is a great option but can be very costly, so a lot of our customers just want to replace the damaged shutter to match the existing. This can be done very easily! The process goes like this:

  1. Pull shutter from house and bring to our cabinet shop.
  2. We remove all damaged areas and depending on type of damage, we either recommend rebuilding the full shutter or just replacing damanged pieces and reassemble.
  3. We use Spanish Cedar wood to rebuild or replace, than pass on the painter to paint to match existing.
  4. Painter returns the shutter to our shop or jobsite and we will rehang.

Below is a picture of a rebuilt shutter to match existing and one that has been rebuilt and painted.
